What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit it. It remembers information about that visit — the language you chose, or your privacy preferences — and lets the device be recognised on later visits. Other browser storage technologies serve the same purpose; throughout this policy all of them are called “cookies”.

Cookies used on this site

This site uses two groups of cookies. The necessary ones require no consent, because without them the cookie notice could not work. The analytics ones are set only if you accept them, and none is activated before you do: with no consent on record, this site loads nothing from Google and sends it no information at all.

Necessary cookies

These store your decision about this policy so you are not asked again on every page. They are held in the browser itself, are never sent to a server, and cannot identify you.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, an analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, to learn how many people visit the site, which pages they read, and which countries and devices they arrive from. The data is processed in aggregate and used solely to improve the site. We do not use it for advertising or commercial profiling: Google's advertising signals — ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization — remain denied at all times, including when you accept analytics cookies.

International transfers

Using Google Analytics may involve processing data on servers outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission found to provide an adequate level of protection on 10 July 2023, and that decision is the basis for those transfers. Accepting, rejecting and withdrawing consent

The first time you visit, a notice appears with three equally weighted options: accept, reject or configure. Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting, and no box is ticked in advance. You can change your mind at any time using the button below, or the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer. When you withdraw consent, analytics cookies already set are deleted from your browser. Your decision is kept for 12 months, after which you will be asked again.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the cookies in use or the applicable law change. If a new purpose is added, your consent will be requested again and this notice will reappear.
